Julie is brilliant.
“She has helped us so much with our beagle Snoopy and her anxiety issues. Julie came to our house for sessions and was great with both our dogs. Then we could message or email any queries over a 6 week period and Julie would regularly check how we were getting on. Also Julie is super qualified with various professional bodies which meant that we could claim for Julie’s services from our insurance company which was an added bonus. Thank you Snoopy is a much happier 8 month old beagle.”

Here’s an example of how others have benefited…
John, Liane and Ralfie
At first Ralfie, a rescued Spanish street dog, appeared to be settling in well to his new life in the UK. But after a few weeks he became very worried about going out for walks. Even in quiet locations he’d want to run back to the car. Ralfie’s fearfulness was very upsetting for his lovely humans to watch.
However, through the dedication and kindness they showed towards Ralfie, and with the support of my tailored Dog Fear, Phobia and Anxiety Support option, progress was achieved. This is what John had to say.
‘My wife and I adopted our dog Ralfie in July 2021. At first he settled into our home very well. He was harbouring some very emotional scars from his time in Spain as a street dog but he was loving his new home. However, as Ralfie was settling into his home, he was creating a massive fear of everything outside our front door. Going for a walk was often met with stress and anxiety on both sides. We had tried the services of local dog trainers who had a very 1 size fits all to dog training. So much so that Ralfie was even more scared to go outside after visiting them. We were very concerned that Ralfie may never enjoy the outdoors, we approached the charity that we adopted Ralfie from for advice and Julie came into our world. A very in depth zoom meeting was our introduction and during this Julie made Ralfie the very centre of her thoughts. 2 weeks later Ralfie met Julie for the first time and he took to her immediately. During this time we learnt so much and were able to start training straight away. The following weeks were progress all the way, and in fairness to Julie, if we ever had an issue she answered our texts promptly. We met again one more time and Julie really had us, and Ralfie in a good place. It wasn’t immediate but 6 months after using Julie’s techniques we now have a dog that loves his life in the UK. Not sure we would have done it without Julie’s help. 10/10’
Ralfie really has benefitted from all the effort his humans have put in. Walks are now happy and pleasurable for everyone.

It is a requirement for membership of my professional bodies that I only undertake behaviour work on veterinary referral. This is because behaviour problems can arise from currently undiagnosed or previous medical problems. It may surprise you to learn that up to 80% of dog and cat behaviour cases involve pain (Mills et al., 2020). Therefore, before starting behaviour modification work it is important for your vet to first rule out / treat any underlying causes of the problem.
-
Don’t worry. That’s not unusual, and all unwanted behaviours can be addressed. You may just need to book additional follow up sessions so we can work through everything.
-
No, not in a way that will overwhelm them and potentially make the problem worse. I will design a tailored training programme for you to minimise setbacks and optimise progress at your dog’s pace. Both of you should find behaviour modification training enjoyable.
-
That will partly depend on how long your dog has been fearful or anxious. The longer the history the longer it can take to change. Also, it will depend on how much time you have to work on your training plan. At least a few minutes, most days will be required.
