Let’s talk about…

An interactive evening with Julie Daniels online

UK wide

Useful learning made easy

Fancy a supportive group chat about general problem behaviour prevention for your dog or cat?

As a Certificated Clinical Animal Behaviourist, I get asked many questions about dog and cat behaviour. They often start with ‘Why does my dog…?’ or ‘How do I stop my cat from…? My answer almost always starts with ‘it depends’. Every dog and cat has their individual needs which have to be considered in creating their bespoke behaviour plan.

That said, there are common threads that can be pulled together to provide general behaviour advice aimed at preventing problems from getting worse while you wait for professional support. Or better still, prevent them from developing in the first place!

During my very informal ‘Let’s Talk About…’ group evenings you will learn about common dog or cat behaviour problems, how to prevent them and be able to ask questions. Bring a glass of wine, a cup of tea, a slice of cake or whatever you like. Relax in the knowledge that you will be learning in a safe and supportive online space.

At our next ‘Let’s talk about…’ evening we will be asking…

’Is my dog happy?’

This is an important topic because…

  • A contented mood is more likely to enable your dog to cope better with life’s ups and downs

During this session we will cover…

  • What does ‘mood’ mean for dogs?

  • How to recognise if your dog is unhappy

  • What may cause low mood and how to reverse it

  • How to maintain a contented mood (to help avoid behaviour problems)

  • Your questions on this topic

What are the benefits of ‘Let’s talk about…’

An example of Julie’s 1:1 support to give you an idea of her approach…

Julian and Buddy

Buddy is a very handsome Golden retriever who has happily lived with his humans since he was a puppy. However, after being set upon by other dogs Buddy developed a habit of chasing after and pinning down dogs he didn’t like. As Buddy is a large dog, this was not only embarrassing but also concerning, as Julian explains.

‘When we appeared to have an issue with our golden retriever "Buddy" we knew the lady to contact - Julie. We had previously attended puppy training classes which had proved extremely useful so we knew Julie although COVID had stopped us continuing with the lessons. Our dog Buddy had become a little snappy and with other dogs while he had always picked his doggy friends carefully this was new and unwanted behaviour. After speaking with Julie, we embarked on a 12-week course of action, her input has been fantastic. Julie never judged has always offered constructive ideas and comments which has led to a massive improvement with our dog. Julie is a lovely lady who genuinely cares about her doggy clients, it was always a pleasure to meet her. It is an ongoing process but there is a marked difference which is noticeable by others. Julie also rebuilt my confidence which helps the situation. Learning your dog’s body language and what to do in a negative situation has been immensely useful. While Buddy is still fussy about his doggy friends his issues have almost vanished even under provocation and when meeting inconsiderate dog owners. Sometimes help is required and if it is I can say Julie would be my first port of call each and every time’.

With my guidance and encouragement throughout the Dog to Dog Behaviour Support option both Julian and Buddy have worked hard and got their confidence back so that walks together have become pleasurable again. Great teamwork!
